AccessAbility Training

1. Purpose
AccessAbility Training is committed to ensuring that all individuals – regardless of disability, neurodiversity, health condition, or access needs – can fully participate in and benefit from our services, training, and working environment. This policy outlines our approach to creating accessible, inclusive, and supportive experiences for everyone who engages with our organisation.

2. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, trainers, contractors, clients, learners, and visitors who interact with AccessAbility Training, whether in person or online.

3. Our Commitments

a. Inclusive Environments
We aim to remove physical, digital, and attitudinal barriers that may limit participation. We will:

  • Select training venues that are physically accessible, including step-free access, accessible toilets, and clear signage.

  • Provide clear, advance information about accessibility features for all training sessions and events.

  • Ensure our digital materials (e.g., websites, presentations, documents) meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

b. Reasonable Adjustments
We will make reasonable adjustments for individuals with disabilities or additional needs, whether they are learners, staff, or partners. This includes:

  • Providing alternative formats (e.g., large print, audio, Easy Read, plain English).

  • Ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, captions).

  • Offering flexibility in delivery format and timing where appropriate (e.g., one-to-one sessions, recorded content, remote access).

c. Communication and Information
We are committed to communicating in ways that are clear, respectful, and tailored to individual needs. This means:

  • Asking participants in advance if they have any access requirements.

  • Using plain language in all written and verbal communications.

  • Providing communication support (e.g., BSL interpreters, note-takers) where requested in advance.

d. Staff Training and Awareness
All staff and trainers receive regular training on accessibility and inclusive practice. We foster a culture of empathy, openness, and continuous learning around access and inclusion, informed by the social model of disability.

4. Digital Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring our online platforms and digital content are accessible to all. This includes:

  • Ensuring websites, forms, and learning materials are navigable using assistive technologies.

  • Adding alternative text to images and following accessible design principles.

  • Providing captions or transcripts for all video and audio content.

5. Feedback and Continuous Improvement
We welcome feedback on accessibility from learners, partners, and staff. Feedback is used to:

  • Improve the quality and accessibility of our services and resources.

  • Identify and address any barriers to access.

  • Shape our ongoing accessibility strategy and action plans.
